Michael Roth, born in Basel in 1971, first completes an apprenticeship as an architectural draughtsman. He then studies architecture at the Basel School of Engineering, graduating under Professor Michael Alder. From 1996 to 2000, he works in Professor Hans Kollhoff's Berlin office.

He joins Diener & Diener Architekten in Basel in November 2000. He becomes a member of Executive Management in 2005 and a partner in 2011. He leads projects in Switzerland and internationally and, together with Andreas Rüedi, directs the Basel office at both operational and strategic level.

He has served on the board of the Basel chapter of the Federation of Swiss Architects BSA since 2019 and has been a member of the Central Board of the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects SIA since 2025. In both roles, he advocates for a forward-looking culture of building and for the interests of the profession.
